Overview
Clipex (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our audio extraction and conversion application.
The short version: Clipex processes selected audio and video files locally on your device with bundled FFmpeg tools. Clipex does not upload your media to an app-operated server. Files leave the app only when you choose to export or share them.
Information We Collect
Clipex does not require an account or ask for your name or email address. It is designed with privacy in mind:
- No account creation required
- All audio/video processing happens on your device
- Your media files are not sent to PostHog or RevenueCat
PostHog and RevenueCat process limited technical, usage, device, and purchase information as described below.
Third-Party Services
Clipex uses a limited set of third-party service providers to operate subscriptions and understand how core features are used. We do not use advertising SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, or cross-app tracking.
PostHog
Clipex uses PostHog for limited product analytics so we can understand app usage and improve the experience. Events may include high-level product interactions such as onboarding progress, paywall views and conversions, and export-related actions, along with technical information needed to deliver and interpret those events.
PostHog does not receive the media files, recordings, or other content you process in Clipex. The app sends product-interaction events with basic app metadata such as the app version, build, and platform. These analytics are not linked to your identity or used for cross-app tracking.
RevenueCat
Clipex uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases, subscriptions, and entitlement status. RevenueCat may process information related to your purchases, such as subscription status, transaction and purchase history, and device identifiers used to validate and manage your access to paid features.
We do not receive your full payment card information. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and RevenueCat acts as our subscription management provider.
Media Files
When you use Clipex to extract, reverse, convert, or trim audio:
- All processing happens locally on your device using Clipex’s bundled FFmpeg tools
- Clipex does not upload your video or audio files to an app-operated server or to its analytics and subscription providers
- We do not have access to your media library beyond what you explicitly select
- Processed files are saved locally to your device
- A file leaves the app only when you choose an external export or sharing destination
Pro Purchases
Clipex offers a yearly auto-renewing Pro subscription and a lifetime one-time Pro purchase:
- Payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store
- RevenueCat helps us validate purchases and manage entitlement status for both options
- RevenueCat may process purchase history and device identifiers for purchase management
- The yearly subscription renews until cancelled through your Apple ID subscription settings
- The lifetime purchase is charged once and does not automatically renew
- We do not have access to your payment information
- Yearly subscription management and purchase restoration are handled through Apple services
Microphone Access
Clipex requests microphone access only for the audio recording feature. Microphone data is:
- Used only when you actively record audio
- Saved locally to your device
- Never transmitted to any server
Apple Music Library Access
Clipex may request access to your Apple Music library so you can import songs or audio files into the app. This access is used only to let you select media for local processing on your device. We do not upload your music library information or imported files to our servers.
Children’s Privacy
Clipex does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date.
Your Rights
Because Clipex has no user accounts, there is generally no account profile for you to access, modify, or delete through us. If you want more information about data handled by PostHog or RevenueCat, please review their privacy policies linked above. Local app data can be deleted by uninstalling the app.
