Frequently Asked Questions

How do I extract audio from a video?

Tap “Extract,” choose a video from your library, pick the output format you want, and export. Clipex processes the media locally on your device using its bundled FFmpeg tools.

What audio formats are supported?

Clipex supports MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AAC, and M4R. Supported format and quality options remain available without Pro. The free limit applies when completing an external export, not when selecting a format.

How does audio reversal work?

Import audio or extract it from a video, then tap Reverse. Clipex creates the reversed version locally on your device.

What is included for free?

The free version includes:

  • Core editing features
  • Effects and format selection
  • Internal project saves
  • One completed external export

After the included external export is completed, you can continue editing and saving projects in Clipex. Pro is required for additional external exports.

What does Pro include?

Clipex Pro unlocks unlimited completed external exports. Editing, internal project saves, effects, and supported format selection remain available without Pro.

How do I manage or restore Pro?

Clipex offers a yearly auto-renewing subscription and a lifetime one-time purchase. Manage or cancel the yearly subscription through Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. The lifetime purchase does not renew. Use Restore Purchases in Clipex while signed into the Apple ID used for the purchase.

How do I cancel my yearly subscription?

You can cancel anytime through Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device. You’ll continue to have Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Does Clipex work offline?

Core importing, editing, media processing, and project saving happen on your device. Internet access may be needed for App Store purchases, subscription status, and analytics delivery.

Is my data private?

Your selected audio and video files are processed locally using Clipex’s bundled FFmpeg tools and are not uploaded to our servers. Clipex uses PostHog for limited usage analytics and RevenueCat for subscription management; those services do not receive your media files from Clipex. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can Clipex install a ringtone directly?

Clipex can export an M4R file for an iPhone ringtone workflow. iOS requires additional steps outside Clipex to install or assign the exported file as a ringtone.
